Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council

About Us
The Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council was founded in 1967 and is the first incorporated Arts Council in the state of Maryland. We are the not-for-profit organization that coordinates, promotes, and sustains the activities of other not-for-profit art entities in Wicomico County.

We are committed to expanding arts in the region by increasing awareness of existing organizations and artists by presenting art forms not readily available to the region.

We are dedicated to preserving the accessibility of the arts for all residents. Particular attention is given to our local youth and the integration of the arts into their education.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in Wicomico County and the surrounding region by:

  • developing arts awareness through educational programs and community outreach,
  • promoting artistic experiences for diverse ages and cultures, and
  • facilitating communication among area artists and organizations, thereby establishing our community as a vital cultural center.
  • Funding through grants and scholarships to promote country Arts project and Arts Education

Annual funding is made possible in part by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Maryland State Art Council. Arts Council members and corporate sponsors also play a vital role in supporting the arts.

Organizational policies and guidelines are created, amended and enforced by the Board of Directors. Daily operations are carried out by paid staff.
