Here There Be Dragons! - If you like Collectible Trading Card games and reading, this new program is for you! The Reading Dragons Challenge will take place September through April. At the programs on December 9, January 13 and February 10 you’ll be able to pick up your Reading Dragons tracker, game instructions and some special starter cards. We’ll also have fun dragon games and activities!

Don’t worry if you can’t make it to the programs. You can stop by the Children’s Desk at the Sarbanes Branch to pick up your Reading Dragons tracker, game instructions, and some special starter cards anytime.

Christmas Tea

Come join the Commodore Stephen Decatur Chapter of the National Society United States Daughters of 1812 for a Christmas Tea at the beautiful Poplar Hill Mansion, which will be decorated for the holiday season. The menu will include Cream of Tomato Soup, Assorted Tea Sandwiches (Cucumber, Pimento Cheese, and Chicken Salad), Scones with Clotted Cream, and Assorted Desserts. The cost is $25.00 per person. Reservations are required as seats are limited. Please email stephendecaturusd1812@gmail.com to RSVP (please note that you must email to make a reservation, simply responding as "Going" on Facebook does not constitute a reservation). All proceeds raised go to support the work of the Commodore Stephen Decatur Chapter with education, historic awareness and preservation, veteran projects, and other community services.

Girls Who Code Clubs are a way for girls to join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models, and use Computer Science to change the world! Join our club to learn from fun and simple online coding tutorials, build community through interactive activities, and learn about inspiring role models. Club members will work in teams to design and build a Girls Who Code Project that solves real world problems you care about through code!

Whether you’re a beginner or a computer master, you’re invited to join the movement!

Participants should plan to attend all 10 sessions. Registration is required. For students entering grades 6th through 12th.
