Screening: The Homestretch
March 26 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Want to help homeless youth in your community before the school
year ends? Come to the movie screening of The Homestretch on March 26 and join us for the #YouthReachMD 2020 Youth Count.
The Homestretch follows three homeless teens as they fight to stay in school, graduate, and build a future. Each of these smart, ambitious teenagers – Roque, Kasey and Anthony – will surprise, inspire, and challenge audiences to rethink stereotypes of homelessness as they work to complete their education while facing the trauma of being alone and abandoned at an early age. As their stories unfold, the film connects us deeply with larger issues of poverty, race, juvenile justice, immigration, foster care, and LGBTQ rights. Against all odds, these kids defy stereotypes as they create new, surprising definitions of home. Through haunting images, intimate scenes, and first-person narratives, these teens take us on their journeys of struggle and triumph.

About Youth Reach MD:
Youth REACH MD is a statewide effort by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and coordinated by The Institute for Innovation and Implementation at the University of Maryland School of Social Work.
The Youth Count acts as an opportunity to connect with these youth to better learn about what we can do to help and connect them to initial supports and services. Survey data is then used to improve the services and resources available to support these youth and young adults in their community.
