In this three-day workshop, artists will be guided through the process of drawing a naturalistic portrait from life with artist Kathryn Engberg. Working in graphite, artists will draw and render a head with a particular emphasis on capturing an accurate likeness; anatomy and skull structure; and rendering naturalistic form and light effect. Instruction will be provided in the form of demonstrations, lectures, and individual critiques. All skill levels are welcome.

Materials list:

Drawing board

Paper (Strathmore drawing pad medium size – 11×14- 14×17)

Graphite pencils (2H, HB, 2B)

Kneaded eraser

Drafting eraser pen tombow brand (recommended)

Pencil sharpener or xacto blade and sandpaper block

Measuring tool (any long thin instrument like a knitting needle, wooden skewer, bike spoke, etc)
