Cast Metal Menagerie Sculpture Exhibit
May 15 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 9:00 am, repeating until May 24, 2019
Salisbury University sculpture students will exhibit their works at the Salisbury Zoo from May 10th to the 24th. This open-air exhibition can be seen every day during zoo hours in the Zoo’s “Holly Circle” garden located near the west gate entrance.
A call to artists was made to Salisbury University sculpture students by their professor, Bill Wolff, to create pieces that describe a modern-day menagerie. These pieces illustrate the diversity of the animal collection at the zoo which is rich in variety, shape and form. As a free, public zoo in the city center, and with the adjacent City Park and Ben’s Red Swings, the Salisbury Zoo is a well-used and recognized resource. Students were asked to create works that would encourage zoo visitors to notice the preciousness of the zoo, its denizens, employees, volunteers and visitors.
All works will be made at the University’s foundry beginning from molten metal. The students will add their creative expression to raw metals, bronze, cast iron and aluminum. The alchemy of each metal offers a variety of texture and color.
The Zoo is open every day, 9am to 4:30pm. For more information call 443-944-0357.
